I Will Continue to Fight for His Freedom—And for All Who Ask the Hard Questions
Sometimes a single voice speaks out with such clarity and courage that it shakes the walls of power. My father is that kind of man. A journalist. A truth-teller. A fearless seeker of justice. But here I am, facing an unthinkable reality: the country he believed in, the one he thought protected freedom of speech and justice for all, is pushing to silence him. The Trump administration is trying to deport him—not because he broke a law or harmed someone—but because he dared to ask the questions that make powerful people nervous.
My Father’s Crime Was Truth-Telling
Journalism as a Threat?
In any free society, journalists are supposed to be watchdogs—not enemies. But when my dad started investigating government contracts and exposing abuse and corruption, doors began to close. Suddenly, his visa paperwork got “lost in processing,” and ICE came knocking—not once, but repeatedly. That’s not coincidence. That’s retaliation.
Let’s make something clear: my father came to this country legally. He paid taxes. He contributed. He believed in the Constitution—the same document that the powerful often wave in front of cameras while violating its core values behind closed doors. And yet, none of that matters when you don’t fit the profile they want. When your words make people uncomfortable.
Freedom Isn’t Just a Word In the Pledge
Being Patriotic Means Demanding Better
I’m a veteran. I wore the uniform and served this country. I’ve seen the good it’s capable of. But I’ve also seen how freedom gets filtered—who gets it, and who doesn’t. Hiding behind red tape or “national security” doesn’t change what’s really happening.
My father stood up and said, “This isn’t right.” He asked where taxpayer money was going. He questioned policies that seemed to prioritize profit over people. That’s any journalist’s job. And now, instead of awards, he’s getting deportation threats.
Tell me—how free is our press if immigration paperwork can be used as a weapon? How strong is our democracy if the price of truth is exile?
A Personal Fight, A National Crisis
We’re Not Alone—And We’re Not Backing Down
My dad isn’t the first journalist to be treated like a problem. And unfortunately, he probably won’t be the last. Around the country, whistleblowers, activists, and truth-tellers face intimidation, censorship, and retaliation. We’ve seen what happens when the powerful fear the spotlight. They dim it.
But I’m not going to sit back quietly. Just like my father didn’t run from the fight for truth, I won’t run from the fight for his freedom—or the freedoms of all those who challenge unjust systems.
This is bigger than immigration. Bigger than one journalist. This is about who gets to speak truth in America without fear of punishment. If we let this go unchecked, we say silence is safer than honesty. And I won’t live in that kind of country.
Stand with Us—Before There’s No One Left to Stand For
Hope Is Resistance
I’m writing this not just as a son, but as an American who still believes we’re better than this. If we let our leaders deport journalists for doing their jobs, we are complicit in rewriting the American promise. If you value freedom, if you believe in truth, I ask you to speak up. Share this story. Call your representatives. Make noise.
Because this fight—my father’s fight—isn’t just about him. It’s about every voice that’s been silenced, every truth that was buried, and every citizen who still dreams of liberty and justice for all.
I will keep fighting. For my father. For the truth. And for every soul brave enough to demand answers when silence is easy.
Be brave with us.
